The Institute has started organizing its first international research conference and technology competition.

The Ethiopian Federal Technical and Vocational Training Institute has started organizing a three-day international research conference and technology competition in Addis Ababa, with the participation of 16 countries.
In a message delivered by the State Minister for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Dr. Teshale Berrecha, the Ministry of Labor and Skills, these international forums will help to enhance the research culture and stimulate professionals and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Teshale stated that as a country, we are working diligently on the sector because we recognize that skill development is the basis of economic transformation and national competitiveness.
The State Minister stated that research activities that have been initiated in the sector will play a crucial role in further advancing the transformational work, and in this regard, the research and technology development work initiated by the Institute should be further strengthened.
The Director General of the Institute, Dr. Brooke Keder, said that the Institute is working hard to advance Ethiopia’s vision of industrialization and sustainable economic transformation.
Dr. Brooke also said that the Institute is conducting weekly research seminars in line with its commitment to fostering a strong research and innovation culture. He also said that the Institute is working to promote technology and innovation by establishing a national incubation program known as “Skills Ethiopia”.
Today’s conference builds on these strong foundations and will further highlight our growing role as a global knowledge exchange and innovation hub, he said.
More than 80 research papers were submitted for the competition at this forum, and 30 high-quality papers were selected for this event. More than 100 technological innovations were also submitted, of which 34 advanced technologies were selected for the competition, the Director General said.
