Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) plays an important role in equipping individuals with relevant skills and knowledge for the labour market and also fostering the competitiveness of the economy. TVET can also better enable individuals to participate in social, economic and technological innovation processes. Many, both in the developed and developing worlds, are increasing the emphasis they place on improving the capacity of TVET systems, in recognition of the function of TVET. Therefore, embedding TVET into regional and national innovation structures is of crucial importance to the economic performance and social development of countries. In fact, an overall improvement in vocational skills for employability and citizenship can only be realised if there is an improvement in the quality, effectiveness and relevance of teaching and learning.
A key role improving the quality and status of TVET play the teacher and instructors who shall have profound subject matter and practical knowledge and skills as well as acting on the basis of educational values and attitudes. In order to help strengthen and upgrade technical and vocational education and training, it is clear that the establishment and implementation of a high quality study program for TVET professionals has much to contribute in this regard.

In a developing country like Ethiopia, Civil Technology plays a crucial role for the economic and social development, and improvement of the living standard of the people. As infrastructure developments are indicators of improved livelihood and ways of investment attractions and tourism, contribution of civil technology in this regard is very important.
